Plattsburgh Knot – How to tie a tie
Plattsburgh knot is symmetrical in shape and large in size. It is easy to learn and use to wear on business and social occasions. It is recommended with semi or full-spread collars and most suitable for men with narrower faces and longer torsos. - Drape the necktie around your collar
- Make an X-shape
- Tuck the thick end into the loop
- Flip the thick end upward
- Again tuck the thick end into the collar loop
- Bring the thick end down
- Make a horizontal band
- Tuck the thick end into the collar loop from behind
- Feed the thick end to the horizontal band
- Adjust the tie

Drape the necktie around your collar
Drape the necktie around your collar in such a way that the seam should be facing upward and the thick end of the tie should be on your left side. Also, the thick end should be 4-5 inches lower than the final position of the tie after completion.

Make an X-shape
To form an X-shape, cross the thick end of the tie underneath the thin end. And flip the thick end of the tie upward to the collar loop.

Tuck the thick end into the loop
Pass the thick through the collar loop and bring it to the left side from the back of the tie knot.

Flip the thick end upward
Again flip the tip of the thick end upward to the loop around your collar.

Again tuck the thick end into the collar loop
Tuck the thick end in front of the collar loop and keep it to your right side.

Bring the thick end down
Bring the thick end all the way down through the collar loop, emerging on the left side of the thin end.

Make a horizontal band
Bring the thick end from right to your left side in front of the tie knot making a horizontal band. Slip your finger into the newly created horizontal band.

Tuck the thick end into the collar loop from behind
Flip the thick end up from behind the tie knot and tuck it into the collar loop.

Feed the thick end to the horizontal band
Bring the thick end down through the collar and loop and by feeding the horizontal band in the way down.

Adjust the tie
Finally, adjust the tie by tightening the tie knot holding with one hand, and pulling the narrow end with the other hand. And at last, adjust the edges to give it a proper symmetrical shape.
